The Stazione Marittima places you immediately beside Castel Nuovo and within a short walk of Spaccanapoli and the UNESCO historic centre. Unlike ports where the city requires a long transfer, Naples rewards you from the moment you step ashore.
The port's real advantage is what lies beyond. Pompeii is roughly 30–40 minutes by road in good traffic, or reachable by Circumvesuviana train from Naples Centrale. The Amalfi Coast road starts at Sorrento, roughly 60–90 minutes away depending on traffic. Capri hydrofoils depart from Molo Beverello, adjacent to the cruise terminal.
That range is also the planning challenge. Attempting Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and Naples city in a single call is not realistic for most itineraries. Choose one anchor — archaeology, coast, island or city — and plan everything else around your all-aboard time. Your all-aboard time is earlier than the published sailing time; treat it as the hard deadline.
On multi-ship days, the quay can be busy and transport queues longer than you might expect. Confirm your meeting point with any operator before sailing day, and factor in extra time getting clear of the port area on days when several ships are in.
Highlights
- Central berth — UNESCO historic centre walkable from the ship
- Capri and Ischia hydrofoils depart from Molo Beverello, adjacent to the cruise terminal
- Pompeii reachable by road or Circumvesuviana train
- Return-to-ship planning is critical for Amalfi Coast and Capri days
- Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) immediately beside the terminal
Tips
- Note your exact berth — Molo Beverello and Molo Angioino have slightly different exit points
- Confirm your all-aboard time, not the sailing time — they differ
- On busy multi-ship days, arrange transport through your operator to avoid quayside queue uncertainty
- Check current cruise-line and local transport information before travelling
